This page documents an official unignorable Melonland Policy
It describes a widely accepted standard that all users should normally follow. Not only that, but its also the law.

This policy explains how MelonLand (ML) handles your data, respecting your rights under the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and extending those rights to all members worldwide.
What is MelonLand
ML is an independent, non-commercial arts project operated by Daniel Murray, a visual artist located in Ireland. ML consists of a a forum and multiple service sites offering extra features and tools for indie web-crafters.
What Data does MelonLand Collect & Why
ML only collects what is needed to run the site and provide services.
Account Information: Username, email, and any profile details you choose to share. Required for login and participation.
Forum & Other Services: Posts, comments, images, and any content you create.
Technical Data: IP address, browser type, and access logs for security and site performance.
Cookies: Used only for login sessions and preferences.
Creative Contributions & Archives
ML is a living artwork and arts project. Some parts of ML involve public participation in that artwork: for example, sharing content (Art Hub), joining discussions (Forum), or adding to community projects (Everyone Site). When you contribute material, you agree to have it included as part of the ML art project.
What this means:
Your personal data (email address, name) remains yours and subject to your full rights under this policy, including deletion.
Creative contributions, uploads, images, code, forum posts, may be retained, archived, and used as part of the ongoing artwork indefinitely, even if your account is deleted.
ML reserves the right to remix, redistribute, exhibit, and document contributed materials in arts contexts, including exhibitions, publications, web projects and games.
Attribution will be given when it's contextually possible (for example, in exhibitions or referencing forum threads). In some contexts such as archives or collective works, individual attribution might not be included.
This has no impact on your personal copyright or ownership of things you create.
Where is Data Stored
The majority of data is hosted in the ML server located in Ireland and provided by the Blacknight hosting company (EU). Our Minecraft server is located in Quebec, Canada and provided by PebbleHost (UK) & OVH (EU).
How MelonLand Uses Your Data
Your data is used to:
Keep the site operational.
Enable interaction with other members.
Maintain security and prevent spam.
ML does not sell, trade, or share your data with third parties. (There are no ads or trackers)
Your Rights
No matter where you are in the world, you have these rights:
Access: Request a copy of your data.
Correction: Update incorrect data.
Deletion: Request account deletion.
Restriction & Objection: Ask ML to limit how your data is used.
Portability: Request your data in a portable format.

Account Deletion & Data Retention
If you delete your account:
Personal details will be removed.
Public posts, contributions and uploads may be kept indefinitely, or may be partly anonymized.
Some additional data may be kept in logs or databases - either because of needed functionality or because of error.
Security
ML takes reasonable measures to protect your data, but no system is perfect. Use a strong password and practice online safety.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy is updated, members will be notified.
